This is the door at Magma book shop in Clerkenwell - plastered in stickers so if you're in town....

Again something that really should have been posted on artofthestate earlier - awry stencil graffit found on some marathon jaunt around East London.

View Article  Arofish Part two

More work from Arofish in Cold Blow Lane. The last time I went the tunnel was closed so I don't know if anything still survives.

View Article  Spring clean - Arofish part one

Well last week I spent time taking pictures of things other than street art (more soon) so this week I'm raiding the archives and posting up stuff that for no good reason has never made it onto artofthestate.

First up are a couple of Arofish pieces from Cold Blow Lane in New Cross.

View Article  Lazy journalism

As previously reported here back in October 2006 thieves made off Banksy's No Ball Games rat in Paddington having hacked it out of the wall. So it's funny how in the last week its been picked up as a story and run by the BBC, NY Times amongst others. Keep up guys!

Maybe because it suspiciously turned up on Ebay for 20K? Ebay is fast becoming the lazy journalists story of choice (can't be bothered to go to Devon to report on container ship looting? Just log on to Ebay to see what the scavengers are selling and make that the story. All from the comfort of your own office)!

Imagine the stories they'll be able to run when they finally notice Elvis died

View Article  Forget the Hoff, here's the Moff

I did my bit for the environment last year by not jetting off to LA to look at a painted elephant in a room. It is, of course, something I've regretted ever since. Luckily Moffla has come up with a great set of Banksy Barely Legal photos which he has allowed me to reproduce on artofthestate. To see them all start here or you can just browse galleies one and two

View Article  A different invasion

Following on from yesterday's post here's a stencil found in a side road off Brick Lane. At the moment there seems to be a lot of buffing going on and not so much new stuff going up. I'm always after any tip offs of good stuff so if you see anything feel free to email artofthestate.

View Article  Invader attacks

It's a full scale onslaught from Invader then, a couple more found in Southwark in Park Street and by Vinopolis.

Good job too as there's not a great deal else going up in London at the moment....

View Article  Hanging around street corners

There's a few of these figures in various guises around new office developments in London. This one was found in More London near Tower Bridge. I liked the way it's getting progressively more dirty over time which only adds to its character:

View Article  Ben Turnbull at Lazinc

Lazinc is running a new exhibition 'U.S. vs them' by Ben Turnbull. It contains 15 sculptures which largely consist of childs toys reworked to provide a comment on America's image. Or the largest Rubik's cube you've ever seen and a coffin made out of Action Man parts sitting behind an electric fence if you prefer. Some proper pictures at a later date....

View Article  Obey, London

This must have been left by Shepard Fairey (Obey) on a recent visit to London because no one who paid for it is going to leave a sticker that good out on the street!?

View Article  Peter Kennard - unofficial war artist

This weekend is the last weekend of Peter Kennard's stunning commentary on the war in Iraq 'Obscenity'. It's on in Dalston in a gallery a short distance from the train station and is well worth a visit to see his unique style of work such as this huge torn paper piece which occupies an entire wall.

This tower block near Kings Cross has a design that looks like it is from another, sunnier planet.

View Article  it's a bit windy miller

Gales swept through London today. Unlike any sensible person I was stupid enough to take a walk through the city. So here's a storm damaged BMW and lamp post in the City today

Mantis was in the London Paper today for this Jack the Painter piece in Spitalfields.

Knackered and old Pure Evil stencil postal sticker found in Shoreditch. See also this Saturday's post....

View Article  Don't fear the buffer

It's getting to be pretty rare to stumble on something from Banksy in London that you've not seen before so I was surprised to find this rat still about visible around Kings Cross station.

View Article  All Hallows lane

I'd forgotten about this location until it turned up in Martin Bull's great little Banksy Locations pocket book. It's still there if you want to take a look.

View Article  Brick Lane all change

Brick Lane is in a constant refurbishment programme with contemporary dining and new street architecture turning up all the time. This view of the neon restaurant signs is unlikely to last much longer.

View Article  Cut loose

Banksy's work is now fast disappearing from London and this looks like one of the next to go as the building it was in seemed to be in the process of being emptied when I took this photo.

View Article  Sax appeal

Found in Brick Lane, this doorway stencil had a Pixa? tag by it but I've also seen it in a another location on Flickr tagged with Focus?

View Article  Think pink

Paste up found in Shoreditch, artist unkown. I liked this one and it was the only one still intact. There was what looked like a great Santa stencil paste up nearby along with a more extensive version of this, both partly ripped down.

View Article  Official Street Art

This initially may look like a reflection but it's actually two figures, one inside and one outside an office block in Euston.

This blog often features 'unofficial' street art but I liked this commisioned piece. It looks like two of Antony Gormleys figures.
