Art Of The State Blog - London :: Hammersmith revealed

Standing on the platform at Hammersmith Tube Station (Hammersmith and City Line) you can see this old advert for dancing at the Hammersmith Palais. I don't pretend to understand how much 2'6 is in decimal money!

The old shilling (12 pennies) = 5p in new money. 2 shillings and sixpence ("half a crown") = 12.5p.

This wall looks great from the platform, but sadly when the place is knocked down I doubt it will be economical to keep the sign.
