Here comes the PR bit:

The Frisson Gallery is excited to present a new exhibition by the very talented London based, Supa Dupa crew….

Supa Dupa consists of six artists united by beer and good times. All hailing from roots in Graffiti, it is clear to see the impact that this genre has had on them. Their inspiration ranges from flash art, comic books, the sci-fi genre, and iconography. Now two years on from its formation, the crew have made a name for themselves (be it unintentionally) through their unique collaborative style usually seen within murals and conceptual pieces.

Their very first group exhibition, 'Rarities' features the collaborations of: Alfa, Herse, Fybe, Tobe, WordToMother, and Mesek. The exhibition shall prove an insight into a unity that can exist between various styles of graffiti and works that steer more towards that of fine art. To find out more about the exhibition and the individual artists please view the Frisson Gallery website.

The Frisson Gallery is open Monday to Saturday 10:00 till 18:00 and Sunday 11:30 till 17:00. The Gallery is free for the public to view and accessible by wheelchair

View Article  Christmas is coming

Well, while I'm still trying to work out what I think about the Gallows / Lethal Bizzle cover of the Ruts 'Staring At The Rude Boys' I thought I'd mention this event as it sounds like it's going to very, very good.

Over 40 'urban' artists are taking over the old Bridewell Police Station in Bristol this Christmas and filling it up with stencils, sculpture, prints, fine art, graffiti and just general mayhem. If you're thinking this is some kind of Assault on Precinct 13 style attack on the police station that's not quite right because the building is disused but it should be a great venue. The irony of the fact that the location is where many graffiti writers have been taken over the years is not lost on the organisers who include art-el.co.uk, beforechrome and steal from work. After a year of endless emails about new galleries being opened both online and in white walled spaces it's so refreshing to see something coming together that seems to be more like street art used to be, a bunch of artists getting together to have some fun.

And yeah, I do love that Gallows track 'cos it just presses all the right buttons, pushes things forwards and takes nothing away from the original.

I caught up with Shepard Fairey at the back end of October prior to the opening of the Nineteeneightyfouria show (last few days - closes November 22nd).

You can read the interview with Shepard here.

View Article  Top 10 Banksy Locations (automated post #2)

I often get asked where to go to find particular Banksy pieces by people who are visiting London. Obviously Martin Bull's Banksy Location and Tours Book is the most comprehensive guide out there but here is something I promised a few years ago - a live map of a top 10 Banksy locations. It'll get updated anytime that anything gets buffed but at the moment they're all there.

View Article  Hello Tower Hamlets (part 2)

The fact that Banksy's work has risen meteorically in value has produced some strange responses. From being covered over in perspex in Portobello Road and Brighton to promises of destruction in Tower Hamlets it's all getting a little weird.

But this is the strangest of the lot:

"Works by maverick street artist Banksy are being restored by council workers to protect them from graffiti vandals"

Shepard Fairey's show with StolenSpace raised the bar yet again in street art shows. 20,000 square foot of space with so much quality work - it was a real head rush after walking up the stairs to find so much in such a huge space. Go see.

This money soon got hoovered up by the crowd
